REVIEW : Creative Crafting from Aldi
You may or may not know that I love to crochet, knit and cross-stitch but it's been a while since I completed any large project so when I saw that Aldi had brought out a "Creative Crafting" range I got quite excited. Their complete project boxes were the perfect way to get back into what used to be my favourite hobby.
The great thing about these kits is that the come complete with all materials and even the stuffing to finish off your project. I'm in the middle of both projects so keep an eye on my Instagram to see the finished results. I have a couple of recommendations for the kits that I tried though:
- The crochet bear kit is NOT for beginners as you have to work in 'rounds' and increase/decrease stitches as you go. Also, the crochet needle included is best being replaced by one of better quality (maybe an ergonomic one due to the need for a very small needle). I suggest a #2 although well-versed crocheters will know.
- The cross-stitch kit does not have a hoop supplied and I believe this is essential for small, intricate projects like this. You will need a small hoop which can be purchased from any craft store and this will help steady the calico as you are stitching. This project has very clear instructions and pattern guides with an explanation and demonstration of the stitches required.
Check out the full range from Aldi as they have an enormous selection of crafting supplies including yarn, fat quarters, rug making kits, felting kits and even a sewing machine. As we are coming into Winter, this is the perfect time to learn - or restart - a crafting hobby.
